Here is a set of feet that I recently made for a puppet who is rather atheletic and needs to be able to bend and flex his foot. The ball that is exposed is the ankle the block at the other end is the toe-- there are 6/32 threaded holes for tie-downs in each toe. These are constructed of bronze and stainless steel using hand tools and a drill press.

Armature hinge joint using a regular machine screw with a sleeve insert (instead of a shoulder screw). You can see the washer in this picture, but not the sleeve of course.
